So not true, but this post is all about doctors... and their "magic".
Audrey has had 2 doctors appointments this week - I'm predicting a busy summer.
Yesterday we saw her Pulmonologist and I voiced a few concerns because Audrey has had this nasty little cough for over a week and half. We though maybe she was showing signs of allergies to animals because we dogsitted Audrey's uncle's dog. Audrey's uncle would prefer me to say "cousin" but I just can't force myself to say it - he'll change his mind one day when he has a baby. Anyway, we watched Orsen Welles, who did wonderful around Audrey. He was curious of her, she was curious of him and watched him run around everywhere, but we tried to keep the two apart after the second day. Previous to watching Orsen, we spent Wednesday evening at our friends for dinner, they have a cat and dog. The following morning, her cough started. Friday night, she stayed the night with her grandparents, they have a dog and cat. Her cough continued. Saturday we spent the majority of our night at her other grandparents - they have a dog and that night was the beginning of our dogsitting term. Sunday we started her on her breathing treatments of Xopenex and Pulmicort twice a day and we've been doing it since... Not only did she have a cough, but her nose was runny, she was sneezing and she had purple tinted circles under her eyes - I researched and it said those are possible signs of allergies in little ones. So, this is what I brought up with the Pulmo Guy and he said it was very possible... He checked her lungs because she was wheezy and rattly sounding, but said she checked out fine. He sent me home with long list of instructions to help her ashmatic symptoms. Continue doing Xopenex every 4-6 hours, he increased her Pulmicort dosage and that's twice a day. If she doesn't seem to get better, we put her on Orvapred (an oral steroid) and then he said we should try Zyrtec rather than Claritin for her allergy symptoms... I'm checking with her Pedi on that one though.
Today, we had our hearing aid discussions with Callier Center at UTD. We met with an audiologist, she immediately took impressions of Audrey's ears. Audrey tolerated that better than I thought she would. We sat there for 5 minutes, Audrey and I talked to each other while the putty hardened. The audiologist came back with a couple of hearing aid models for me to choose from. Audrey will be sporting a pair of Phonak Nios micro. We found out that Aetna doesn't really contribute a whole lot towards hearing aids - they will give us up to $1000 for 3 years. I'm not one to discuss finances on here, but we were hoping our insurance would cover a little bit more than that... But, that's what we have a savings account for, right?
Here's what they will look like, of course in Pink:
The ear molds will be a pink and clear glittery swirl - at no extra charge. We will get them in about 3 weeks. They will do a fitting and then some hearing tests... and then we'll be on our way to learning language!!! We will need to go back once a month so they can make sure everything is working properly. I'm sure Audrey will adjust to them very well!!
Okay, I've got more to add but I can hear in the next room that Audrey's ready for her bath. Until next time.

I'm so sorry to hear that Audrey might be allergic to pets. I hope that her medicine will help. :)
I wonder what Audrey will do the first time she really hears herself. She'll be saying "momma" in no time. :)
Man - I hope Audrey isn't allergic to dogs and cats because she is so curious of them. However - I will make sure to bathe Boomer once a week to cut down on pet dander. From what I understand if you bathe cats it will cut down on pet dander as well...for the cat owners.
I can't wait to see how quickly Audrey adjusts to the hearing aides. I'm pretty sure she'll be saying Aunt Staci in six months. ;)
A friend's son got his hearing aid (he just uses one) at around six months and sometimes just takes it out. I have found it in the toy box of the church nursery after a LONG search. They sell these attaching thingys, so if they take them out and say... drop them in a store, you aren't out all that money.

Poor little sweetie! I hope her allergies pass. I have given Jake Zyrtec a few times to help with seasonal allergies. He seems to do fine with it.
Hooray for the hearing aid! That would be so wonderful for her. She'll be chattering away before you know it :)
As for insurance and the cost of medical expenses...we won't go there. We were just talking the other night how ridiculous the prices for medical services are.
Hugs to Miss Audrey from Jakey :)
I hope Audrey starts to feeling better real soon. I am really liking the pink hearing aids. I am sure she will adjust to them just fine.

Poor thing, I hope her allergies clear up soon! I think her hearing aids are adorable! I have several family members who wear / use them and none of theirs are quite as cool as Audrey's!
Audrey is going to adjust just fine to those little hearing aids, especially when she hears Mommy tell her how much she loves her and Daddy calling her, "Bubba!" We might have to have Papa tone down the whistling though. :-) Glad to hear that Audrey's little lungs are clear...we'll say a little prayer that the breathing treatments clear up her cough.
PS: I bet Great-Grandma Sue is going to be jealous of the pink hearing aids! :-)
My daughter-in-law knows me so well,I am jealous of the pink hearing aids, I like those. I am sure she will do very well with them, when everything sounds clearer.Pets are so good for children, I hope you can get the allergies under control. Give her hugs and kisses for me. We really enjoyed being with all of you Sunday.
I love the pink hearing aids and know that little Audrey will adjust to them quickly. She's such a little trooper!
I hope she's not allergic to dogs and cats, but you know I'd willingly give up both just to get rid of the hair they leave everywhere. LOL Have they checked Audrey for asthma yet? Her daddy had it as a baby and they kept telling me he had an upper respiratory infection or bronchitis. Luckily Shawn out grew it by age 5. Asthma runs in the Hannon family, unfortunately, but it usually skips the first born and mostly affects the males in the family. Audrey's Pawpaw was lucky and it skipped him. I'm continue to pray for Audrey and we'll help out with the expense of the hearing aids. So don't worry about that. God provides!
