After My Last Post...
In the last several weeks our moods have changed drastically. She's walking all around the house, following us into different rooms. Her balance is still a little wobbly and when she falls, she gets right back up. I think we could all take a lesson from her persistence and her pace. She's the tortoise not the hare, I completely understand now. She's winning this race even when we think she's way behind. That girl's clever, she is.
Now, when I say "talker" she's not necessarily forming true words, but she is definitely making an effort at modeling words that we say. Every once in a while she will sign a word and even attempt to speak the word. It's starting to click with this little one. In fact, tonight, I heard her say "Momma" but I don't know if she was intentionally saying MOMMA! I'd ask her to say it again and it would come out as "Bubba", she's probably just toying with my heart. Also, she is saying "Dadda" better and better every day. She also says "Pease" while signing "Please". Her hearing therapist, Suzi, says that Audrey's hearing age is about 13 months (she's had her hearing aids for 13 months) and her expressive language is almost relative to her hearing age. However, her receptive language is almost relative to her actual age. She seems to understand everything you ask her or tell her to do... except when you ask her to be patient. What I love about this is that everyday we hear something new. Our homework for the next couple of weeks is to keep a journal of new words we hear from her. So, we have to try to keep up with Audrey now.
Her little personality has changed a lot, as well, in these last couple of weeks. She's more playful, lovable, affectionate and happy. She will randomly give us hugs and kisses. We are absolutely adoring this stage that she is in.
I'm a little embarrassed that 2-3 weeks ago, I poured out my feelings and, truthfully, felt sorry for myself. But, it just pushes me harder to be a better mother for Audrey. Those weak moments make me stronger for her. And, I find myself taking a lesson from my daughter, I fall and get right back up again.
Enjoy the video below, it was taken on my phone so it's kind of pixilated. I hope it brings a smile upon your face.

Huge smiles at our house for walkin & talkin Audrey Sue!!! :)
She is the MOST adorable walker I have ever seen! :) What a wonderful "growth spurt!" I really like the blog changes too! :)
Way to go Audrey!! That is such great news and I love the video of her walking. It is also awesome how she gets up after she falls, she doesn't need anything to pull her up. I also love the new layout.
That's awesome! I love how when she got back up she held her hands out to make sure she was level first - that's a smart one! So sweet.
Hello! I'm Brad and my wife's name is Amy. Amy is pregnant (21 weeks) and at 15 weeks, we found out our baby is a girl (Claire Elizabeth) and that she has ventriculomegaly/hydrocephalus. Your daughter appears to be doing very good and I love the video above! I wanted to follow your blog since it gives us hope. Amy started a blog www.prayersforclaire.blogspot.com so check it out for updates from us.
Aaahhhh-mazing! I cannot wait until Saturday, so that we will be able to play with her for hours before bedtime! What a blessing she is to all of us, and I thank God for you, Stefani, for touching other people with your blog and giving them hope. You make your Momma proud.
